Richard Hughes, Strategy Manager Corporate Property, Environment Agency

Richard Hughes is the Environment Agency's Strategy Manager for Corporate Property for the Environment Agency based at it's Head Office in Bristol. He has worked for the Environment Agency and predecessor bodies for over 23 years.

Since 2006, he has been part of the newly formed National Property Team within the Environment Agency. As part of the role, Richard has been developing consistent policies and processes for Agency property and how it is used. These Policies have been designed to be consistent with Office Of Government Commerce (OGC) guidance publications, including High Performing Property, Working Without Walls and Working Beyond Walls.

Richard is a member of the OGC Benchmarking Project Board. Most recently, Richard has managed the development of the Business Case and specification for the Environment Agency's new Corporate Head office in Bristol.

From 2001 to 2005, Richard project managed the implementation of a new Accommodation Strategy for Agency offices in South Wales. This resulted in the sale of old high maintenance buildings and the acquisition, through lease, of high performing BREEAM 'Excellent' buildings.

In 2000 he Project Managed and introduced ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) to the Environment Agency offices and activities in Wales.

Richard is married with two daughters and lives in Cardiff.
