Case Study: The Single Non-Emergency Number

Hampshire and the Isle of Wight were first to implement the Single Non-Emergency Number (101) service in the first wave of the national implementation. The service uses a shared call centre based at the Police Headquarters, Winchester. This 24x7 service would be a facility that many of the partners would find difficult to provide individually. There are considerable economies of scale through collaboration as well as several challenges. As Hampshire is one of just five localities that are included in the first wave, it will be one of the first to discover the issues and one of the first to design the solutions.
