With a dual focus on improving public services and enhancing efficiency,
Shared Services is a vital new policy area for public sector bodies of all
sizes. The sharing of both back-office and front-line services between
different public sector bodies, and between public and private sector bodies,
can create economies of scale and pool valuable expertise and resources.
Building on our high level online summit in February, our April conference aims to provide insights into the benefits and challenges of sharing systems and services; to identify good practice; and to provide a forum to share experience amongst those involved with planning the move towards shared services.
Topics to be addressed include:
Analysing the strategic drivers for shared services in the public sector;
Balancing improvements in performance and improvements in efficiency;
Comparing different shared service and outsourcing models;
Creating the framework for successful contracts;
Determining the priorities on services that could be consolidated or outsourced;
Issues to be resolved before consolidating or outsourcing services;
Lessons learned from experience of sharing services and outsourcing;
Practical challenges faced by organisations restructuring shared services;
Senior management support to underpin leadership-driven change programmes;
Strategic role of shared services in transformational government.
