With the help of two leading experts, we take a look at how council websites are changing and are likely to continue to change at a rapid pace, with a particular focus on open data and social media. Open data brings new challenges to the role and purpose of council websites, with data that can be taken away, repurposed, joined up, and represented at other sites, on mobile apps and in other ways. And social media continue to develop at breakneck pace, bringing new possibilities for citizen feedback, interactivity and community organisation.
