Mo Shahkarami, Transportation Engineer, Department for Transport

Mo Shahkarami has more than 20 years experience in the area of traffic and transport engineering in the private and public sectors.

Mo provides advise to senior management in the DfT, the Highways Agency, other government departments, local authorities and consultants on transport modelling topics. Mo is leading the freight modelling research programme in the Department. He manages a number of research projects in the areas of land-use transport modeling and Dynamic Integrated and DEmand Modeling (DIADEM). He is also involved in two Transport Initiative Funding studies for Bristol and Tyne and Wear. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a Member of the Institution of Highways and Transportation.

A graduate in Civil Engineering, a post-graduate diploma in Traffic and Transport Engineering and a Master of Science in Information Systems Engineering, Mo has presented a number of papers at the European Transport Conference on the outcome of his research projects.
