Alun Jones, Managing Director of The GeoInformation Group

Alun Jones has 23 years experience with geospatial data covering a wide range of topics, including volcanic hazard assessment, satellite remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems, environmental monitoring and 3D modelling.

He is currently the Managing Director of The GeoInformation Group, one of the UK's leading providers of geographic databases. He is also the serving Chairman of the Association of Geographic Information, representing over 2,000 UK and European members whose goal is the promotion and development of good practice and knowledge transfer for geographic information n both the commercial, educational and public sectors.

He has a Ph.D from Lancaster University and has previously lectured in GIS at Kingston University London. He has appeared on Sky News, Discovery Channel and BBC Radio and has published articles and books on a wide range of geographic related subjects, including Land Use analysis, 3D modelling, the future for aerial photography and historic images of D-Day.
