Chris Jarvis, Freedom of Information Policy Manager, Environment Agency

For more than a decade Chris Jarvis has been involved in the provision of environmental information at the Environment Agency, the leading public body for protecting the environment. His responsibilities have included developing public access to information, implementing the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and the Re-Use of Public Sector Information Regulations, and instigating the Environment Agency's electronic Public Register service.

Chris has led on partnership projects with the UN Environment Programme over improved electronic access for information and currently Chairs a UN Economic Commission for Europe Task Force on electronic provision of environmental information. He has led capacity building workshops in St. Petersburg and Kiev, and been an invited speaker at a number of events including the Meeting of the Parties to the 'Aarhus' Convention and the World Summit on the Information Society.
