David Lowe, Head of Secretariat, Petitions Committee, European Parliament

The Petitions Committee, consists of 35 Members representing all political groups in the Parliament. It is currently chaired by Ms Erminia Mazzoni (EPP - Italy). The Committee gives effect to the right to petition, enshrined in the EU treaty, and works to ensure the rights of EU citizens are respected in relation to all areas of activity of the European Union. It allows the direct participation of petitioners in its work, and seeks where possible to find non-judicial remedies in cooperation with Member States to the issues raised by petitioners. The Committee is assisted in its work by a professional secretariat.
