Accessibility challenges in multinational and multilingual global online estates
Ricardo Carvalho, Web Developments Coordinator, Shell International

Global organisations often have a harder time achieving consistent accessibility levels within their web presences, either because of different legislation regarding accessibility in the different countries in which they operate; different standards; different technical platforms; multichannel issues; and even differing priorities of achieving accessibility, depending on the region.

This session will discuss the problems we are facing when trying to give our users the best online experience possible, making our online estates accessible, and the solutions different global companies have found not only to achieve a good accessibility level but more importantly how to maintain it.

Subjects up for discussion will be: which accessibility standards to use; what is harder to implement, technical or editorial changes; how to manage accessibility standards and implement them in a global online presence; what kind of research are companies doing; and what business results we're having when applying accessibility standards.
