Workshop panellist: Gill Whitney, Chair of the European Design-for-all and Assistive Technology Standardisation Co-ordination Group (DATSCG) Design for All Research Group Middlesex University

Gill is Chair of the European Design-for-all and Assistive Technology Standardization Co-ordination Group (DATSCG, a working group of the ICT standards group) and head of the Middlesex University Design for All Research Group. She is also a member of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR)'s i2010 eInclusion Stakeholder Group and a member of the steering group of the BERR's Knowledge Transfer Networks - UK Displays Network. Previously Gill worked at the Royal National Institute for the Blind for thirteen year, where she was involved in a number of research projects which looked at the travel information needs of the older and disabled people. These projects included two European Union Tide Projects where she was responsible for managing the user needs requirements and evaluation. She is a fellow of the RSA and a member of the IET (The Institution of Engineering and Technology).

The Design for All Research Group is a European Centre for excellence in the field of ICT Design for All, it is also the UK National Contact Centre for the European Design for All e-Accessibility Network. It is currently involved in research on the Design for All Curricula and in arranging expert workshops for people working in Design for All.
