TAG is an organisation which ensures that electronic communications are accessible by deaf people. TAG is a consortium of deaf organisations involved in e-communications for sign language users, deaf, deafblind, deafened and hard of hearing people. Founded as the Telecommunications Action Group the group later expanded its remit to
e-communications, however, currently our main focus is on telecommunications and
broadcasting.

Ruth has been involved in ensuring broadcasting is accessible since 1982 when she joined the Deaf Broadcasting Council secretary for 20 years. In the mid-1990s, the Deaf Broadcasting Council affiliated to TAG of which Ruth has been Chairman for eight years. She has been involved with the UK Council on Deafness since its inaugural meeting at the House of Lords and has been Chairman for six years.
