Plenary panellist: Sam Latif, Global IT Manager, Procter and Gamble

Sumaira - better known to everybody as Sam - is a Global IT Manager for Procter and Gamble and has Retinitis Pigmentosa, an eye condition which has resulted in her being 97 per cent blind from the age of 16.

Her passion is to help people from ethnic communities to recognise the potential that disabled people have, and wants to remove negative and 'taboo' attitudes in the ethnic community. In 2000, she set up Ethnic Enable. It is a charitable organisation which aims to combine disability and ethnic expertise to develop and provide techniques and tools to support ethnic people with disabilities in their self-development, participation within their religion, community and culture.

Her vision is for all disabled people to feel empowered and valued, and for individuals with influence to level the playing field to include the talents that disabled people can bring to making our society a fairer and more fulfilling place.
