Workshop panellist: Hugh Huddy, Lead officer for PDF accessibility, Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB)

My goal is to help take down the barriers of access that disabled people currently face with PDF by facilitating the development of solutions. My activities focus on policy development and relationship building with consumers, service providers and software manufacturers.

In 2005 Hugh held a joint press briefing with Adobe Systems on the state of PDF accessibility. The event sparked a series of articles in the national press and since then, PDF has rapidly grown as a leading accessibility concern on the web with many partners involved.

Hugh leads RNIB's commitment to good e-document design, working with both commercial and public sector organisations including the BBC, central government and NHS. A specialist in accessible design, Hugh facilitates service providers to exploit new technologies and real user experiences to solve today's accessibility challenges. He advocates accessible design as a driver for improved business efficiency and excellent customer focus and regularly presents the case for inclusive design at UK and international conferences.
