Tim Pickering, SPARC Project Manger, Environment Agency

Tim Pickering is External Funding Manager for the Midlands Region of the Environment Agency. Originally trained as an aquatic ecologist, he as worked for the Agency and its predecessors since 1987. He has had involvement with ecological appraisal and fisheries management operations and more recently with the implementation of the European Habitats and Water Framework Directives. He is currently project manager for the Strategic Partnerships in River Corridors (SPARC) project, designed to promote the integrated management of river corridors in northern Europe. It will provide advice and understanding for regenerating river basins and enhancing their natural, cultural and historic environments. SPARC is making use of a highly accessible web site to disseminate information about the project and an integrated set of private 'blogs' to facilitate partners working as part of an international team.
