E-procurement - the use of new technologies to automate all aspects of the public procurement process, from tendering to purchasing goods and services and managing contracts - is a boom area. It is one of the few proven ways in which new information systems and technologies can save a public body hard cash, boost internal efficiency and improve services to the public and businesses, all at the same time.
There are challenges to overcome, though, in developing
new systems. How will you persuade your staff to change the way they
purchase goods and services? How can you integrate old systems with
new? How can you ensure small businesses or other suppliers will not
be left stranded and unable to do business with you any more? These
and many other issues will be analysed by our expert speakers, and practical
tips and advice offered on the way forward for all UK central and
local government bodies, including Scottish councils and the Scottish
Executive.
