Michele Ide-Smith, Web Strategy Manager, Cambridgeshire County Council

Michele is a web strategist with a background in project management, user experience (UX) and web development. She started her web career at a technology start-up / digital agency in the late 1990s, initially coding HTML, then managing projects and designing the information architecture of websites and mobile applications. After a stint heading up the interactive production department, Michele moved to Cambridgeshire County Council in 2006. Michele has experience in a range of sectors including auction houses, telecommunications, finance, retail, car manufacturing, education, charities and government.

Michele is passionate about user experience (UX) and has a Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction from University College London. As the Web Strategy Manager at Cambridgeshire County Council, she has championed UX and made sure UX processes and skills are embedded in the web team. She has also driven forward the Council’s gov 2.0 agenda. In 2009 Michele led a partnership project funded by the Customer Led Efficiency and Transformation programme, to develop http://wisbech.shapeyourplace.org, a community website which enables residents to improve their neighbourhood.
