Craig Belsham, Head of PSC Delivery, Department for Business, Innovation & Skills

Craig has been Head of the delivery team working on the UK Point of Single Contact for the EU Services Directive for the last 4 years. In doing so he has been keen to promote a user focused approach to the development and has welcomed the opportunity to work with business and authority representatives on a regular basis. Craig's current priority is to move the project towards an operational basis whereby it can be managed by businesslink.gov on a day to day basis. Critical to that is ensuring that those bodies that are obliged to link to the system (such as LAs) and provide for online applications, do so in order to avoid the threat of fines from the European Court of Justice. This was the trigger for the research being presented to day the results of which are "at best patchy"!

Aside from the Services Directive, Craig has significant expertise in the policy field with particular emphasis on European policy development and working, including an extended period leading on many Single Market aspects of the EU Enlargement process. Before joining the Civil Service in 1992 Craig worked for 18 months at Surrey County Council.
