Share Session: Making London’s roads safer
Hamish Keith, Head of Road Safety Technology, Transport for London

Road Safety has traditionally looked toward Engineering Measures and Education Programs to prevent collisions. While these techniques have been successful in the past, and continue to be so where implemented, Road Safety professionals are increasingly looking toward Technology and GIS for answers to problems and to provide new low cost and effective interventions on the road. Despite this, information continues to be a barrier to the implementation of new technologies, as safety systems need to provide a high level of reliability and accuracy.

In this discussion group we will discuss the new technologies which are now available to road safety professionals along with participant’s proposals and how the current data provision is responding to these opportunities.

GIS has a key role at Manchester Airport. This discussion group reviews it's operational role which spans drainage and asset management to the commercial side including passenger market share analysis.
